About Me

I'm a geek and amateur musician (among other things) from Helsinki, Finland. As a child I studied violin, then taught myself guitar in my early teen years, and soon begun writing my own songs. In my later teens I was regularly involved in music productions at school, occasionally performing my own compositions. Apart from music, I have a keen interest in fantasy and science fiction (and related activities, such as gaming), which is reflected in some of my song lyrics as well. I'm currently studying for a Master's degree in English Philology at the University of Helsinki.

My musical taste is very varied. Since early on singer-songwriters like Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Tracy Chapman, and classic rock acts like Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have been a great influence on me and my music. Japanese video game musicians like Nobuo Uematsu and Akira Yamaoka, and more recently symphonic metal bands like Nightwish and Rhapsody of Fire, have also been important to me.

My earliest online releases were remakes of video game tunes released on fan websites, as well as original compositions in a similar style, created with tracker software. Since then I have experimented with recording songs using my home PC, although the results have not been entirely satisfactory. Later works have often taken inspiration from roleplaying games and other geeky topics.
