Rainpatter
and melancholy melodies
in midday darkness
hurtling forward
perfectly still
on meaningless errands
longing for misty streets
and towns that don't exist
until the jarring sound
of fellow passengers
chattering in alien tongues
breaks me
and I am left stranded
without an other world
to cling to.
